Description:
A service that provides preventive interventions with families/groups seeking help for substance abuse issues.
Goals:
To serve as a portal of entry for many people who realize that there is a problem but are not aware of the appropriate next step
Objectives:
-Determine individual/family/group needs
-Provide direct services
-Refer to other appropriate resources/service
Components:
-Assessing needs
-Face-to-face service
-Supportive relationships
-Skill building
-Follow-up services as needed

Drug Information Line
Description:

A confidential service, available 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday for purpose of information and referral, short-term and crisis counseling.
Goals:
-Provide accurate alcohol, tobacco, and other drug information to the consumer
-Assist in answering questions related to substance abuse issue and concerns
-Offer crisis counseling
Objectives:
-Provide quality accurate, unbiased information
-Refer people to appropriate level of care and/or with appropriate community resources.
-Track current drug use/activity in the community
-On-call for the media
Components:
Telephone services
Walk-in services
Information and referral
Crisis counseling

Older Adult Services (For Care Givers)
Description:

To offer professional development training on alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) prevention, use/misuse/abuse and addiction in the older population.
Goals:
Disseminate information on alcohol and other substance use and abuse by the older adult population
Objectives:
-Highlight the physiological and psychological aging process as related to chemical dependency.
-Identify signs and symptoms of substance abuse in older adults
-Analyze over-the-counter use in the older adult population
-Define intervention techniques for the substance abuser
Components:
-Chemical dependency/alcoholism in the older adult
-Signs and symptoms of ATOD use
-Misuse of prescription and over-the-counter drugs
-Prevention and treatment of ATOD user
Target Audience: Social Workers, Human Services Professionals, Clergy, Nursing Staff, Residential Staff, and any other caregivers
Target Location: Residential Sites, Healthcare Facilities, HomeHealth, HHS Agencies, and corporations

Description:
